This seven-week elective will give you a solid foundation in musical improv! We will start with the basics to catch up those new to musical improv and then dive into the montage show form for a magical class showcase! You will learn the various song structures, how to navigate a scene into a song, and the fun of developing a song on the spot with this great class. 

No singing experience is required! (also great for experienced musical improvisers). SPACE IS LIMITED SO ACT FAST 

Musical Improv elective students will have a class show - 3/6 or 3/13, date to be solidified shortly.

Cory Coogan fell in love with improv and comedy while studying it at California State Long Beach. He was fortunate to learn musical improv from the greats in NY and LA and wants to bring that knowledge to you. Cory has studied amongst cast members in Baby Wants Candy, Magic To Do, Premiere: The Musical, and many others and has performed improv and musical improv in Los Angeles, New York, and San Diego. He also has experience in stand up, freestyling, and video production. You can see Cory perform on All Hands On Deck, On That Note or on the indie team the Downton Daddies.

Class will have live accompaniment by the brilliant Daniel on piano! Daniel is the very definition of a rockstar. He has had decades of experience in the music industry and has recorded with many hit artists. Outside of improv, Daniel plays for weddings, concerts, and festivals across the nation. Whether you feel you can’t keep a beat to save your life or need some dramatic music for your next monologue on stage, Daniel will have your back!

Pre-req: completion of a level 2 improv class or higher (no prior musical improv training required)
